An Afternoon in the Art Studio

Monday, October 29, 2012

Some of you have inquired about how the studio looks when I'm using it.  I think some of y'all are a wee bit skeptical that I keep it neat, so here's what it looked like a few days ago while I was finishing my Bell jar painting.

I have my paints, paper towels, Q-tips, and brushes out.  I lay out my palette like you see on my palette paper.  My MacBook Air has my image on it I am painting from, and my iPad is tuned in to Pandora radio.

I sit on one of the poufs, and Bonnie likes to sit on the other one while I paint.

When I finish I do put everything away except for my brushes, painting, and easel.   I store other paintings I am working on in pizza boxes I keep in the armoire.

Until next time...

Blessings!
Ricki Jill

  1. I absolutely love the painting, and that is not nearly messy enough! I would have to put tarps down as nothing would be safe!

  8. I love the bell jar painting!! What? How do you keep that studio so neat? Wow. When I paint it's not neat, can I just say that much? Good for you. You are probably more organized than I am. I'm a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants kinda gal. Wing it! probably why my blog is not that organized either....

  9. I like that you are neat and organized. I concentrate better that way. Even when cooking up a storm, I put away things as I use them and wash up as I go along. I really love the painting you are working on. Pizza boxes...how clever!

  11. J'adore your painting - so soft (how do you get that soft look) and so beautiful. Tell my your studio doesn't stay looking like that when you paint. How about you show us a during photo. Don't you have a palette that looks like a total mess - mine always do.

  15. I absolutely love this painting! And love and envy your neatness! I must be under the misconception that I've done a lot of work when I leave everything out! Beautiful roses and I love your Bell Jar!

  17. Wow! I love the entire place Ricki. I think I can stay there for a day. Everything I see is pleasing to my eyes. I also can't help but notice the orderliness and cleanliness. My own working place is way below your place haha
